But I never even hint it cuz I feel I have no excuse to feel this way and if I look for help I’ll just be told I’m a whiny bitch. I wanna do some “behavior management” but it’s hard on my own. Help!!!!

  4. reremae says:

I need some serious advice… For a longtime now (idk, many months) I’ve been feeling anxious and depressed for reasons I can’t even think of sometimes. Usually it has something to do with college (even though I’m a high school freshman), grades, my art not being good enough (tho ppl always give me compliments), my family relationships (tho theyve been fine) my bf (even though our relationship is extremely good I still worry), or my own self confidence and image. I cry and hide in my room a lot

i use to take meds for anxiety but i stopped because when i ran out i would panic and it would be worse so i stopped, now i still have mild ones i dont know if its just me but the ones i get i feel like its real hard to think i random thoughts pop in my head its real hard to explain.

I hope you know.. you just made me feel like someone finally understands me for once. Im a 14 year old girl with bad depression & my moms putting my on medication. I go see a theripist for theses issues. My storys are pretty bad, I freak out about everything & i’m always worried about things. I’m also very co-dependent. I probably shouldn’t share all this. but i wanted to thank you.. for making me believe there is help ..

@JulieLovesOTH ive only seen my main doctor and hes the one that suggested i start zoloft but i havent seen a psychiatrist…my doctor suggested a psychologist instead but i havent seen one either…ive been ok the last number of days and i hope i continue to make progress because at the moment i am not taking any meds just fighting it with my own will…i hope thats enough…how have you been???

  8. JulieLovesOTH says:

    @red88alert ,

I understand your pain, and starting medication can definitely be scary. Talk to your doctor further about your options. Are you seeing just your primary doctor, or are you seeing a psychiatrist? If you are not seeing a psychiatrist, I suggest you do. Not only do they prescribe medication, but they can offer therapy and counseling. Do what you feel is best for YOU though. PLEASE talk to a psychiatrist about medication, its side effects, and therapy.

I wanted to say that I wish I looked up the symptoms that I had and it wouldn’t have affected me like it did. I am an 18 year old male who suffers from GAD and I can tell you that IT IS A TYRANT. Adults nowadays think “Oh it’s just stress they’ll get over it.” and I have to say not if it’s like Joseph Stalin. Thank you for making this video, Julie. People need to know the seriousness of this disorder.

  13. Wolfstang312 says:

Have you seen that study that chamomile helps control GAD? I have been diagnosed with GAD and I tried it, and it seems to work. Granted, I am on medication, but I’ve seen improvement.
Thank you, I lived with this disorder for 18 years before it was diagnosed, and it was a living hell.

  14. knopfler720 says:

Thank you for sharing. Knowing what you know, and having you relay it in a gentle voice helps immensely.

  15. knopfler720 says:

@MrJayjase Say out loud STOP IT, FUCKING STOP IT! Get angry and subdue it. That’s one trick. The other I have tried is making a fist with one hand, clenching it as tight as possible and then breathe deep in rhythm to get the tightness out of my chest. If you have a fireplace, or candles, light them and focus on the flame, and again, breathe. I’ve had 3 attacks today…fuckin scary. All my best pal.

Thanks for this video. We are suffering from the same things, GAD and depression. The only difference is that I don’t hear voices or see things, but I always have scenarios in my mind.
I think mine is genetics because some women in my family have/had it too. Now, I take pills and try to go on.

@berner you just made my night!! (Y)

  23. livipurplelove says:

I do worry constantly. It’s definetly not as bad as it used to be, i guess i just dont try to focus on it as much as before. There’s one thing that i worry and think about more than anything, and its so bad. One night in particular was really bad, i went into my brothers room for a little bit because i was thinking about this one thing so much and going crazy over it. I DONT think that i have GAD, because its not extremely serious. My dad doesnt believe in GAD anyway, don’t ask me why.

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.

But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” – it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….
