Yeah, I’ve had them. I’ve had panic attacks for the past 15 years and have learned to manage them. When this thing came on, I found that by talking a walk really helped. Just a normal pace, outdoors if possible, and I focus on the different things I see like birds, trees, cars going by, etc. If I’m at work, in meetings or whatever, I’ll excuse myself to go to the bathroom and find one on another floor or farther away so that I can get some walking in. Then I work on deep breathing and relaxation techniques. My doctor has said to seek medical attention if they get to the point that I faint or pass out (that’s after a physical exam to rule out anything else). I think you’ll be fine.

Sounds like a panic attack to me. Get it seen to though, incase it’s asthma

  3. BILL says:

I have anxiety disorder too…but mine has been like those symptoms you describe since i was 10. The doc told me it was just severe anxiety…which means the case is more severe than plain old anxiety disorder. But when I get to that point, I ususally pass out cold. To be honest, I have tried tons of anxiety medications and none worked that well and had crazy side effects. So I recommend (if you don’t mind taking the risk with the law) smoking or eating marijuana. Whenever I have an attack, I smoke a little and it immediatly brings down my heart rate and blood pressure, makes the tingling of the limbs go away, and drastically slows my thoughts, allowing me to calm down and assess the situation with a clear mind. It doesnt wotk for everyone, but I strongly advocate marijuana for treating anxiety.

I had that same thing! But last week, I went to the doctor and he put me on Lexapro. So much better now! No more frustrated moments, no shortness of breath, no sleepless nights. Everything is great now! Really, you should talk to your doc. I was scared at first, but for the sake of my family and myself I had to do something! Go see your doctor, thats all that I found that helped anything for me! I fell like a totally different person. My kids can actually enjoy me now!!!!!!

  5. Bert says:

As several others have said, get it checked out medically if you haven’t already done so.

The next step is to incorporate relaxation into your daily routine. Listen to relaxation tapes or relaxing music. Practice relaxing your muscles.

Then practice approaching instead of avoiding the things that make you anxious. Exposure yourself long enough that you experience the anxiety and get through it.

If you are having difficulty with either of these, please consult with a mental health professional. Anxiety can be very treatable if you get the right treatment.
